Super Simple Team Banner

In the time between the summer decorations come down (last day of August) and I put up the Halloween decorations (late September), I like to decorate with a mix of fall and football decor.  I made this crazy-fast banner to use during that in-between time (and if they make the Playoffs, it'll go back up after Christmas!) out of some felt, yarn and team stickers that I bought from our local party store.  Using hot glue means this goes together in about 20 minutes :)

1/4 yard of each color you plan to use (I made 20 flags in alternating colors - if you have a larger mantle, adjust accordingly)
2  pieces of yarn, each x feet long
stickers/emblems
1 - Cut 10 large isosceles triangles out of each color of felt (sides: 6 1/2 inches  top: 4 1/2 inches)
2 - Cut 10 small isosceles triangles out of each color of felt (sides: 3 1/2 inches  top: 2 1/2 inches)

3 - Adhere the emblems/stickers to the small triangles using hot glue
4 - Adhere the small triangles to the larger ones using hot glue (I just went around the edge of the small triangle - this went so fast, I forgot to take a picture)

5 - Lay out your large triangles, face down, alternating the colors
6 - Fold top inch of the triangle over the yarn and down on itself - adhere using hot glue (careful not to get the hot glue on the yarn - the triangles should be able to slide on the yarn for adjustment)

7 - Trim excess triangle top (careful not to cut the yarn)

8 - Hang the banner and adjust triangles (for equal spacing) by sliding them along the yarn

9 - Trim yarn to desired length (I like a little hanging down)

My eye was drawn to this banner at Today's Creative Blog because we're also Steelers fans! Your banner turned out great and I think I'm going to make one for our game room with the kids (we're Steelers fans living in the middle of Ravens country)
